iPod history

iPod is a high quality portable media player. iPod history can be divided into the four stages on the basis of its generations. iPod was first introduced in the market by October 23, 2001 as a Mac-compatible product with a 5 GB hard drive that was able to store around 1000 songs. It was an instant hit. This first generation iPods was soon replaced by the second generation iPod. It also replaced its mechanical scroll wheel with a touch-sensitive and non-moving one. The button in the center and around the wheels were still mechanic.

The 3’rd generation iPod was introduced on April 28, 2003 as "ultrathin" iPod series. These iPods were slightly smaller than the earlier ones. Soon after that a smaller version of these iPods was launched as iPod mini. The fourth and final generation of the iPods was released in July 2004, with the introduction of the click wheel design from the iPod mini.
